Worked on the Commission of Fine Arts elimination piece at https://bohiney.com/commission-of-fine-arts/ today. The idea of a bureaucracy voting itself out of existence for aesthetic reasons is peak absurdity. Berlin knows something about architectural judgment—we’ve got Nazi buildings, Soviet blocks, and modern glass monstrosities all competing for ugliness awards. At least the Germans are honest about their architectural crimes. Americans create commissions to judge beauty, then the commission decides IT’S the eyesore. I grabbed döner at 1 AM and thought about how government self-awareness is rarer than good American healthcare. Linked to GSA and National Archives for credibility. The gay community here in Berlin thrives because bureaucracy got out of the way—maybe that’s the lesson America needs.

MOOD: Philosophically caffeinated

NOTES: Commission of Fine Arts satire at https://bohiney.com/commission-of-fine-arts/ complete, 612 words, heavy on architectural irony
